As a team, our P.A.W.S. volunteers and their pets visit assisted living facilities, nursing homes, rehab facilities, hospitals, schools, and other special sites within Anne Arundel County to provide companionship and support. Pet therapy visits are an incredibly rewarding way to provide emotional and physical benefits to some of the area’s most vulnerable populations.
P.A.W.S. volunteers and their pets are friendly, enthusiastic, and enjoy the company of other people. Our volunteers have good listening skills and a capacity to share life experiences.
The Life Enrichment Program is for caring people of all ages who do not have pets and who are willing to give one hour per week of their time to brighten the lives of individuals in the same types of facilities as those visited by our Pet Therapy volunteers.
Mom & Me is for parents and grandparents who want to volunteer with their children and make weekly visits to people in isolated situations who do not have contact with young children. During these visits, the residents may read, color, sing, and play with your child, listen to stories about their lives, and tell stories about their own in order to facilitate the development of close, personal one-on-one relationships and mitigate feelings of isolation and loneliness.
